Ken Weaver

4 May

Ken Weaver, photographed at Yellowknife's oldest (and cramped) surplus store, Weaver & Devore.

Weaver & Devore is YK’s oldest and most trusted surplus store. It first opened in 1936 and and has remained a fixture of the community for 75 years strong. Ken, along with his brothers, run the store today where you can find all the latest and greatest outdoor gear for workers of the land and lakes. I photographed Ken for Up Here Business and will use this photo in Project Yellowknifer. The shoot was also the last one shot with UHB honcho, Mike Ganley, whose heading to Edmonton to fill the editor’s chair of Alberta Venture. Me and Mike arrived in the North at around the same time 6 years ago and we share a lot of great memories. All the best Mike – I can’t wait to move into your plush corner office!
